January 2013   (Technical report   )

In-Situ Spectroscopic Detection of Active Surface Species in Asymmetric Heterogeneous Catalysis. ChemCatChem. 2013, 5, 683-685.

Guillaume Goubert, Peter McBreen

Maeda and Baiker employed in situ modulation excitation IR spectroscopy to explore diastereomer formation between ketopantolactone and cinchonidine on a Pt/Al2O3 catalyst surface. They found evidence that a C9OH⋅⋅⋅OC bond participates in enantiodifferentiation in the heterogeneous asymmetric hydrogenation of ketopantolactone to pantolactone.
